In addition, Dansko may hire other companies to perform services on our behalf such as operating certain aspects of the Website or sending you email. These other companies may be supplied with or have access to your Personally Identifiable Information for the sole purpose of providing these services to us or on our behalf.

3. How We Share Your Information
We will not disclose your Personally Identifiable Information to others without your permission, except as explained in this Privacy Policy.

Though we will make every effort to preserve user privacy, we may need to disclose Personally Identifiable Information when required by law or if we have a good-faith belief that the action is necessary to comply with a pending judicial proceeding, a court order or legal process served on Dansko or to protect our rights or the rights of others, to fight fraud, identity theft, to ensure the integrity and operation of our business and systems, or to protect the rights, property or safety of Dansko, its employees, members or others.

4. Aggregate Information
On an aggregate basis only, we collect and use comprehensive demographic, business information and data, and other non-Personally Identifiable Information about users of the Website. Aggregated data is considered to not include Personally Identifiable Information. The following are some examples of how Dansko may collect and use aggregated data:

  • Dansko may collect information such as occupation, language, zip code, area code, age range, and times the Website is accessed to better understand consumer behavior and improve our products, the Website, and advertising;
  • Dansko may collect aggregated data regarding consumer activities on the Website to help us provide more useful information to our customers and to understand which parts of the Website are of most interest;
  • Dansko may keep track of items you put into your shopping cart including when you have abandoned your cart and this information may be used to determine when a cart reminder message should be sent via email or SMS / text message; and
  • Dansko may collect and store details of how you use our services, including search queries to help improve the relevancy of results provided through the Website.

If Dansko does combine aggregated data with Personally Identifiable Information, the combined information will be treated as personal information for as long as it remains combined. Dansko will never disclose any Personally Identifiable Information as part of this aggregated data but may lend, sell, share or otherwise disclose aggregated data to or with others so we can perform research and provide the results to third parties, enhance and market the Website, and conduct accounting and process record keeping functions.

5. Other Websites and Links
We may include links to other websites that we think will be of interest to you or operated by our business partners, affiliates, advertisers, and others. These third parties have separate data collection and privacy practices independent from ours, and Dansko cannot be responsible for their policies or activities. Please contact those third parties directly if you have questions about their privacy policies.

6. "Do Not Track" Signals
Some web browsers allow you to send a special "Do Not Track" signal to websites you visit while web browsing so that third parties (such as advertisers) know you do not want to be tracked. Because Dansko does not track users over time and across other websites, Dansko does not currently respond to web browser "Do Not Track" signals but if we do so in the future, we will describe how in this Privacy Policy. For more information about "Do Not Track" and how you can opt out of receiving targeted advertising from many providers, visit here.

In addition, the Website includes third party content (such as social features or map information) and this content may set "cookies" (as described below) on your browser and/or obtain information about the fact that you visited the Website from a certain IP address. Third parties cannot collect any other Personally Identifiable Information from the Website unless you provide it to them directly.

7. Cookies, Web Beacons, Clear Gifs, and IP Addresses
Dansko may also use a feature of your browser called a "cookie." Your cookie automatically identifies your computer - but not you - to our servers when you visit the Website and allows us to correlate your computer with certain usage patterns which are stored in our log files. We use cookies to gather general, aggregate statistics about the overall popularity and usage of the Website. Dansko also uses more temporary cookies, often referred to as session cookies, to keep a user logged into the system and aid in the exchange of information between pages without loss of data. Such a cookie, however, is only stored for the current browsing session and is deleted once the browser is closed. Dansko can also only read cookies from the Website. Search for Cookies under your Web browser's Help menu for more information on cookie management features available to you. If your browser is set to reject all cookies, the Website may not function properly. Dansko may also collect information through the use of clear gifs (also called Web Beacons and Web Bugs) in selected email messages we send to you. These are tiny graphic files, not visible to the human eye, that are included in HTML-based emails and used to let us know which emails we send are opened. Clear gifs may also see or read cookies on your computer. When authorized by Dansko, third parties specializing in monitoring aggregate statistical use of our site with whom we contract, may use cookies, our web log files, web beacons, and other monitoring technologies to compile anonymous aggregate data.

Additionally, we may use IP address information to count and track aggregate visits to Website, to help diagnose problems with our server, and to administer the Website. Dansko does not link IP addresses to anything personally identifiable so while a particular user's session can be tracked, the user remains completely anonymous.

8. Google Analytics
Dansko uses Google Analytics, a web analysis service provided by Google. Dansko uses Google Analytics to collect information about use of the Website. Google Analytics collects information such as how often users visit this site, what pages they visit when they do so, and what other sites they used prior to coming to this site. Google Analytics does this using text files known as "cookies" that are stored on your computer and enable analysis of your website usage. Google Analytics uses only first-party cookies for data analysis. This means that the cookies are linked to a specific website domain and Google Analytics will only use that cookie data for statistical analysis related to your browsing behavior on that specific website. According to Google, the data collected cannot be altered or retrieved by services from other domains. The information generated by the cookie about your use of the Website is transmitted to a Google server (usually located in the USA) and stored there. Dansko uses the information from Google Analytics to (i) evaluate your use of the Website; (ii) generate reports (including compiling aggregate information with non-Personally Identifiable Information) about users of the Website; (iii) improve the Website. Google Analytics collects only the IP address assigned to you on the date you visit this site, rather than your name or Personally Identifiable Information. We do not combine the information collected through the use of Google Analytics with Personally Identifiable Information. Although Google Analytics plants a permanent cookie on your web browser to identify you as a unique user the next time you visit this site, the cookie cannot be used by anyone but Google. Google's ability to use and share information collected by Google Analytics about your visits to this site is restricted by the Google Analytics Terms of Use and the Google Privacy Policy.

Dansko also uses the Google AdWords remarketing service to advertise on third party websites (including Google) to previous visitors to the Website. It could mean that Dansko advertises to previous visitors who haven't completed a task on the Website, for example adding a product to a shopping cart. This could be in the form of an advertisement on the Google search results page, or a site in the Google Display Network. Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on someone's past visits to the Website. Of course, any data collected will be used in accordance with our own Privacy Policy and Google's privacy policy.

You can prevent Google Analytics from recognizing you on return visits to this site by disabling cookies in the preferences settings in your browser or by following the Google Analytics' currently available opt-out options. You can also opt-out of receiving third-party vendor's use of cookies by going to the Network Advertising Initiative opt-out page.

For more information on Google Analytics, please visit Google Analytics. And the terms of service for Google Analytics are available here.

9. Accessing and Updating Information
You may change or update the Personally Identifiable Information we have collected, request that we delete it (unless Dansko is required to retain it by law or for legitimate business purposes), or request that we change how we use it by contacting Dansko as described below in Section 13 with your instructions.

10. Changes to this Privacy Policy
We encourage you to review our Privacy Policy not just the first time you visit the Website but periodically afterwards since we may modify our Privacy Policy from time to time. The date of the last update of the Privacy Policy will always be posted below:

THIS PRIVACY POLICY WAS LAST UPDATED ON SEPTEMBER 28, 2023.

If we make any substantive changes to our Privacy Policy in the future with regard to how we use your Personally Identifiable Information, we will incorporate those changes on this page.

Your continued use of the Website after the changes are posted constitutes your agreement to the changes, both with regard to information we have previously collected from you and with regard to information we collect from you in the future. If you do not agree to the changes, please discontinue use of the Website. Lastly, if Dansko is sold or merged with another company, your Personally Identifiable Information will be included as part of the sale but unless you're notified that the Privacy Policy is changed, your Personally Identifiable Information will be maintained in the same manner.

11. International Users
Like almost every website, our Website is accessible around the world. By visiting the Website and providing your information, you acknowledge and agree that your personal information can be stored for the purposes identified in this Privacy Policy. We process and store your information in North America and your information may be stored on servers located outside your residential jurisdiction and which may have less stringent privacy practices than your own. If you access the Website from outside the United States, your usage of the Website constitutes consent to the transfer of your data outside of your country and to North America.

12. Security
This Website has industry-standard security measures in place to protect the loss, misuse, and alteration of the information under our control, and we make good faith efforts to store your Personally Identifiable Information in a secure operating environment. Unfortunately, no data transmission over the Internet can be guaranteed to be absolutely secure. As a result, while we strive to protect your Personally Identifiable Information, we cannot ensure or warrant the security of any information you transmit to us, and you do so at your own risk. If Dansko provides you with a user name and password to access portions of the Website or as part of your subscription, Dansko disclaims any responsibility for a breach of privacy as a result of your willingly or inadvertently disclosing your user name and password to others.

California

While California law applies only to California residents, we believe everyone should have the same privacy rights regardless of where you live and our privacy tools are available to all of our users.

The California Consumer Privacy Act of 2018 (the “CCPA”) provides California residents with rights to receive certain disclosures regarding the collection, use, and sharing of “Personal Information,” as well as rights to access, delete, and restrict the sale of Personal Information that Dansko may collect about our customers or visitors to the Website, effective January 1, 2020. The CCPA defines “Personal Information” as “information that identifies, relates to, describes, is capable of being associated with, or could reasonably be linked, directly or indirectly, with a particular consumer or household.” If you are a California resident, you have a right not to receive discriminatory treatment for the exercise of the privacy rights conferred by the CCPA.

Collection and Use of Personal Information

Dansko collect various categories of Personal Information when you use the Website, including identifiers, commercial information, internet or other electronic network or device activity information, and geolocation data. A more detailed description of the information Dansko collects and the categories of sources from which Dansko collects that information are provided above in Section 1. Sections 2 and 3 above describe how Dansko may use your personal information, the categories of third parties with whom we share personal information, and what information may be shared under different circumstances and for specific business purposes. In addition, Dansko generates inferences internally to help us understand how users interact with the Website, to develop and offer products and information, and to improve what we offer to users. Dansko will not collect additional categories of personal information or use the Personal Information we collected for materially different, unrelated, or incompatible purposes without providing you notice.

Personal Information does not include deidentified or aggregated consumer information. Dansko and our service providers may also use cookies to deliver relevant advertising to you when you visit other websites, including advertising based on the products you viewed on the Website. Dansko or service providers acting at Dansko's request, may use cookies to determine what type of ad to display to you on other digital properties.

Disclosures to Third Parties for a Business Purpose

We limit disclosures of Personal Information for business purposes as described above and in Sections 3 and 4 of the Privacy Policy.

Sale of Personal Information and Right to Opt Out

Dansko does not sell your Personal Information to third parties (as those terms are defined under the CCPA) and will not do so in the future without providing you with notice and an opportunity to opt-out of such sale as required by law. Similarly, we do not offer financial incentives associated with our collection, use, or disclosure of your Personal Information. Our Website, like most others, uses cookies. To learn more about our use of cookies and your choices, go to Section 7 above. Please note that your right to opt out does not apply to our sharing of data with service providers, with whom we work and who are required to use the data only on our behalf.

Right to Know and Right to Request Deletion of Personal Information

As of January 1, 2020, California residents have the right to request that we disclose what Personal Information we collect, use, and sell, as well as the right to request that we delete certain Personal Information that we have collected from you. Note that we may deny your deletion request if retaining the information is necessary for us or our service provider(s) to:

Complete the transaction for which we collected the Personal Information, provide a good or service that you requested, take actions reasonably anticipated within the context of our ongoing business relationship with you, or otherwise perform our contract with you.

Detect security incidents, protect against malicious, deceptive, fraudulent, or illegal activity, or prosecute those responsible for such activities.

  • Comply with a legal obligation.
  • Make other internal and lawful uses of that information that are compatible with the context in which you provided it.

If we deny your request, we will provide you with an explanation of our reason(s) for doing so.
