We are proud to report we recycle 86% of our waste! And we are proud of this not only because of the amount of waste we are keeping out of landfills (a lot!!) but because of the commitment needed by every single employee in order to reach such a high percentage. Staff has replaced the trash cans at the desk for recycle bins. (In a reverse philosophy trash cans are shared everyone gets a recycling bin.) They have organized drives for specialty items like electronics and shredding parties for sensitive materials. There is an established “green team” whose job it is to research best practices and keep the staff educated. But we realize, at least in this case, the buck can’t stop here so we also maintain the community’s only recycling center making it possible for everyone to do their part.
