Volunteerism

Each year we give back in many ways donating both our time and money. In 2004, we established the Dansko Foundation. Comprised entirely of Dansko employees, the Foundation board reviews all the grant applications from a wide range of community based not-for-profit groups. To date, the Foundation has awarded over $500,000 to over 75 groups, assisting them in furthering their work in the community. In addition to these larger grants, employee donations to not-for-profit organizations are matched by the Foundation, dollar for dollar, up to $100, doubling the support an employee can provide to their chosen organization.

In addition to donating money, Dansko also donates time – and lots of it! Last year, our small (but mighty) team provided more than 1,000 hours of volunteer time to help our community. Our helping hands planted trees and painted playgrounds; cleaned up highways and built houses; built oyster reefs and cooked for families. Not only is every Dansko employee given 20 hours a year of paid time off to volunteer, we also donate the equivalent of that employee’s salary to the organizations they help out. Double the bang!

All in all, we've given away millions of dollars and countless hours to well over a hundred different organizations, both local and national. Our one true goal is to leave the world a better place than we found it and if that means building another house... pass us the hammer and nails!
